Stations on independent railways are indicated with the railway name in square brackets. The independent railways were selected if I thought it plausible that they could be used to reach a walk. That usually means that they link to Network Rail with a shared or adjacent station. I have included the Bluebell with its extension to East Grinstead and the West Somerset as there are a few through services. Also the Welsh Highland which links with the Ffestiniog.
