[This is a new feature from version 581. I will develop it further is there is demand - so please Email me with cooments and suggestions]

This feature allows you to add text items or annotations to a map. Each item added creates a separate .PNG file. Items may be added, edited, deleted or moved. The items 'float' above the map until you choose to merge them onto the map image.

To add a text, position the mouse pointer and press Insert or I, complete the form with font etc and press OK. The text will be positioned with its top left corner at the position of the pointer.

To move a text, move the mouse pointer anywhere onto it, press the left button (the text becomes orange) and , holding the button down, move it to the desired position.

To delete a text, position the mouse pointer anywhere onto it, press the left button (the text becomes orange) and , holding the button down press Delete or D. The most recently deleted item can be recovered by pressing Backspace.

To edit a text, position the mouse pointer anywhere onto it, press the left button (the text becomes orange) and , holding the button down press E, complete the form with font etc and press OK.

Text may be rotated : positive angles are anti-clockwise.

The functions work only when the map is viewed at 100% scale - the texts are not visible at other zoom levels but are not lost.

To save the text items, use Text Overlays>Save from the main screen. Select (or create) a Folder and press OK.

To load text items, use Text Overlay>Load and select the folder with the items to load. All eligible items in the folder will be loaded.

To 'burn' the texts onto the map image, use Text Overlays>Merge.

Note that the text overlay items are not tied to a single map. They are positioned with the latitude and longitude of their centre and can be loaded with any map of the same area and similar scale.
